After a tiring day at work, all you want to do is hit the bed. Bed sheets form an inseparable part of our leisure life. Every night we sleep on them and wake upon them in the morning. And while we use them, we sweat and drool on them as well. During everyday use, our bedsheets pickup many unwanted elements such as dirt, germs, food particles, etc. Logically, you should take good care of your sheets to have better sleep and more hygienic experience. When you care for these bedding essentials in a proper way they look better, last longer, and smell fresh. However, most people remain unaware of the best practices of washing bed sheets. That’s what we would like to help you with. So, pay close attention and follow the below-mentioned tips.
How often you should wash them?
Before we start giving you washing advises, let us first help you understand the frequency at which the bed sheets need to be cleaned. With our experience in the detergent powder industry, we would suggest you change the bed sheets once every week or maybe every other week. The timing of change depends upon certain activities you do on the bed. For example, do you eat on the bed? Do you allow pets to climb on the bed? Do you take a shower before sleep (as a clean body also keeps the sheets cleaner for longer)? Even though you take a shower, do you sweat heavily? If you answered “Yes” to all these questions then you need to change and wash the bed sheets more frequently. However, if you were sick with the cold flu, virus infection, or any other type of illness, then it is recommended to change the sheets on every alternate day.
Cleaning your bed sheets
Bed sheets come with their care labels, so before you start washing them it is essential to read through it. It is also important to sort the washing loads properly. Do not wash the sheets with other clothes and towels. Also, make sure that you are not putting a white or light-colored bed sheet with other dark-colored items. Put half a cup of Safed detergent in the washing machine and turn the sheet over in the highest spin cycle to get the desired results. Once the washing is complete, waste no time in getting them out and putting them in the open for drying under the sun. While drying makes sure that the bed sheet is neatly stretched out to accommodate uniform drying.
If the bedsheet is too dirty you might want to keep it soaked in soapy water, made with Safed detergent powder and water, for 15-30 minutes before rinsing and putting it in the washing machine or handwashing. If your bedsheets have picked up some hard-to-remove stains, then you might soak them in a solution of water and vinegar. Vinegar being a powerful cleaning agent works well in removing most kinds of stains.
For the best cleaning results, always use a detergent that has a strong cleaning formula while remaining low on chemical content. Safed has a perfect blend of both these features.
